We went into Davis Canyon on a field trip with the Utah Rock Art & Research Association (URARA). We found The ‘Faces Motif Style’ pictographs near one of several habitation sites in the canyon. This styles of pictographs, as near as we can tell, are found only in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. The ‘Ancestral Puebloans’ of this region often prepared the surface where the faces were painted by rubbing them smooth. We greatly appreciate the URARA members who generously give of their time and expertise so sites such as this one in Davis Canyon can be experienced and enjoyed!
