We traveled south of Price to a site near Sunnyside thanks to directions from Nina. That evening we returned to Ferron and caught up with Sid and Sherrie Swasey who live on a farm with their family that was one of the early homesteads on the San Rafael Swell settled by Sid’s ancestors. We met Sid and Sherry when we were trying to find a unique rock art panel called "Ferron Box" for the first time.

We have made a number of trips into this part of the Swell hoping to get good light to shoot the panel. Eight years ago we took photos of the panel from on top of the mesa across the Ferron Creek from the panel. On several occasions we took pictures from the gulch below the panel but the light was not conducive for good photographs. This time the cloud cover threatened to repeat our previous efforts. Amazingly, just before sundown the clouds separated allowing the warm sunlight to light up the panel and we got some great photos.

Afterward, we thoroughly enjoyed Sid and Sherrie’s hospitality. Back at the ranch, we enjoyed the warmth from their fire pit under a canopy of stars while eating a pineapple upside down cake their oldest daughter baked.
