We visited Walnut Canyon which is located a few miles from Flagstaff and spent a pleasant afternoon hiking down into the canyon of this National Monument that was once a home for some of the Sinagua Indians. They were adept at conserving water and building homes into the alcoves of the Canyon. They are believed to have been active traders with Indians of the Gulf of Mexico and Central America. The Sinagua left some 80 Cliff Dwellings and the Flagstaff area mysteriously around 1250 AD.
