We arrived in Flagstaff early enough to find our motel and head 50 miles south to see the Castel and Well (mis-named by gringos who thought that Indians from Mexico had built the structure). Though impressive in size, it's clear that the Aztecs did not build it. Heading back to town, the mountain meadows were golden with wild flowers that caught the late afternoon sun.
