This morning George Coombs took us to the upper section of his land that is tucked into Boulder Mountain. Our first stop was a beautiful little reservoir. As we toured the land he recounted his sheep herding days as a young man and the Indian artifacts they use to find. He showed us a large boulder adjacent to one of his alfalfa fields with some Fremont glyphs.

As we explored the Teasdale area with him we found what looked like old teepee rings, remnants of chert used to make arrowheads, and a mesa top with two long lines of stones that were once thought to be much higher walls built to funnel antelope to waiting hunters. We greatly enjoyed our time with him.

In the afternoon we headed for Green River where we would stay for several days. We stopped on the way to show Joe the Transformation Panel in the Ochre Alcove that’s in the San Rafael Swell. This is among our most favorite sites. We were once again swept away by the power and beautiful execution of this unique Barrier Canyon panel.
