For a number of years we had hoped to see Nine Mile Canyon, but given our limited time we hadn’t been able to get there. We found the canyon a memorable if not an overwhelming experience due to the shear number of glyphs. We never made it though the entire canyon to some of the most regarded panels as the weather closed us out in the early afternoon. By the time we returned to Castle Dale, where we stayed at Dan Van Wagoner’s B & B, the roads and the surrounding terrain were white with hail. This preceded an evening of powerful thunderstorms that swept across the swell. We will be back to see and explore the rest of canyon if coal and other mineral mining fostered by the BLM don’t foreclose that opportunity!
