Visiting Jim, Tiffany and Marlo this December was simply wonderful. We had a severe ice storm which created a three day and night power out. Since they have well water, it takes electricity to pump it to the faucets. So with the water problem, flushing toilets and doing dishes, and cooking was made more difficult than the lack of electricity.

Jim carried buckets of water from the river to the house and he bought oil lanterns for light. We were kept warm and toasty by his coal burning skills and without electricity there was no computer, or television distractions. It was truly a warm and pioneering adventure.
