We headed northwest from Thermopolis and found the ‘Legend Rock’ Petroglyph Site with nearly 100 prehistoric petroglyph panels and some 300 individual figures. Legend Rock has been a sacred site for thousands of years. In 1973 it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition to the having the world’s largest mineral hot springs, Thermopolis also has the Wyoming Dinosaur Center that we found to be exceptional.
After reviewing the dinosaurs, we returned to the Legend Rock to photograph the glyphs in the evening light to find out how the lighting effects the quality of the photographic images. On the way to the site we encountered a heard of antelope that decided to race the car. A first for us!
