Leaving Barstow in route to St. George Utah, we headed toward Las Vegas enjoying the stark landscape and some impressive dry lakes. As we descended into a valley, a shimmering blue lake came into view. It was so surreal we were in disbelief. Drawing closer, we could see light radiating from stanchions anchored into to the lake. It was a solar energy facility! After passing through Las Vegas, we made our way into the Valley of Fire where we found petroglyphs at three sites among awesome geology that gave the Valley its name.
