Wat Xieang Thong is perhaps my favorite temple we visited. It has thousands of little cut glass mosaics imbedded in beaautiful reddish hued stucco walls. Little folk stories can be read all around the structures sides, ceilings,and insides. This is my kind of book reading, three dimensional!
After this visit to the temples we sat and visited with the former president’s driver. He is 92 years of age and told us how they were all rounded up and 30 of the president’s family went one way (never to be seen again) and he with 30 others were sent to reeucation camps for 14 years. He says of the government now, if they say go right he goes right, if they say go left he goes left and bends with the wind. It was a very moving talk.
