After saying goodbye to our daughter Tiffany and garnddaughter Marlo, we began our annual trip to the Southwest encouraged that the planning with our good friends would provide a most memorable adventure in search of what the ancient ones left behind. Leaving the Bay Area, we drove over the Altamount Pass, through wind energy generating giants, and then the Central Valley. Our route to Barstow took us through Tehachapi, the northern Mojave Desert to the Calico Ghost Town.
