We left Capitol Reef for an extended stay in Bluff. Our itinerary on this travel day called for a major hike into South Cottonwood Canyon to find Tower House Ruin. Heading East from Capitol Reef took us through some very stark, hauntingly beautiful moonscape terrain.
From there we made our way south to the confluence of the Colorado River with Lake Powell. Late in the afternoon we found South Cottonwood Canyon. After several attempts to find Tower House Ruin based on what we thought were accurate directions, we succeeded in finding this very unique ruin. We greatly enjoyed having this beautiful ruin all to ourselves.
