Nina Bowen led the field trip to Martin Ranch near Manila and to Lucerne Valley sites. About a dozen and a half people attended a thoroughly enjoyable day.

The first part of the field trip was to the site on Martin Ranch. We were looking forward to revisiting this site after nearly a decade. Some of the petroglyphs are of an interior line style that is superbly executed. Several of them are among John's most favorite. At first sight the area that features the rock art is rather unimpressive as there are no towering cliff faces baring the rock art, but a rather low lying hill with just enough rock to get the job done.

From Martin's Ranch we traveled through Manila into Lucerne Valley to see two unique panels. The first of which had a number of faces carved deeply into the rock that imparted a spirit and ghost like quality to the work.
