We headed up Comb Wash and found the pullout for Double Stack Ruins. We succeeded in misinterpreting the directions and hiked into the wrong canyon. It didn’t take long to figure out that we had to hike up and over the ridge to the North and then drop into the next canyon. In the heart of that canyon is a unique alcove that shelters the ruin. The upper ruin is probably only visited by those who have serious climbing experience. The lower ruin is easily accessible and very fragile, and has some remarkable handprints. On the way down the canyon from the ruin we came across the remains of a sweat lodge and some interesting pottery chards.
