The rain that began last night put an end to our rock art plans for the day. Claudia Brenner arranged for Sharon and some friends to visit galleries, bookstores and some small shops. The gloomy day of rain was accompanied by additional feelings of frustration due to the 'government shut down' which, among other things, closed the National Parks preventing the planned field trips into these areas.

This greatly affected the URARA Symposium and the field trips as federal government employees who were to participate in the event had to cancel. In the face of the government’s ineptitude URARA gallantly rallied effectively shifting field trips, guides and speakers for the four day symposium.
