We went on another wonderful hike with George and Carol to the hills surrounding Point Reyes. Carol mentioned the heard of Elk we might see. And see we did!!! There were only 5-10 Elk in the Park in the early 70's. Now the heard is up to a healthy 450-500 strong. We saw males rutting and a male chasing a female and she finally allowing his mount. It was breath taking watching these magnificent creatures for they were not on open flat plains but on cliffs seemingly to be hanging on vertically. It made some beautiful viewing.
